When was the last time you picked up a paint brush? We've got an opportunity for you! Come to Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park for Pioneer Square’s November First Thursday Art Walk to help us paint a community mural designed by youth! We are SO excited to invite you to our special event for ‘A Place at the Park,’ an exhibit that expresses 2019 In My Backyard interns’ ideal national parks! Over the course of 9 weeks, interns explored what it meant to belong in public spaces and visualized what national parks could be! “This experience was beneficial to me because it has helped me gain not only teamwork and leadership skills, but is has helped broaden my perspective to be more aware of my surroundings and the culture and history all around me. Personally, I think I am now a lot more prepared to share with others of my new knowledge” - Corrie, 2019 IMBY intern. Come see how the Seattle community inspired Corrie and 13 other youth in their ideas for national parks! The community mural will be used by the National Park Service in Seattle at community outreach events to connect people with parks and art. You may just be inspired to design your own national park!
