Emmanuel Nkuranga and Innocent Nkurunziza founded the Inema Arts Center in Kigali, Rwanda, to spur personal, social and economic growth in a country still recuperating from massive genocide that took place in 1994. Both brothers are self-taught painters with growing international acclaim, and committed to using their talents to support people in need.
Emmanuel and Innocent made fast friends with a group of doctors from the Pacific Northwest – part of Healing Hearts Northwest – who were in Rwanda to offer live-saving heart surgeries to patients who suffered from rheumatic heart disease.
The brothers now make regular trips to Washington state and offer artwork from their gallery to sell as a benefit to Healing Hearts, a 501(c)3 organization.
