The Figure Ground Art Gallery in Pioneer Square will present a unique group exhibition, opening April 7th. UNMASKED will be a group portraiture show consisting of portrait paintings and sculpture by twenty-two different artists. It has been six months since Figure Ground’s last group show, The Art of our Nude, and it is thrilling to once again be bringing so many different artists together for UNMASKED. This show is an intense, undistracted look at the human face. The form of the portrait is about conveying emotional depth, requiring technical brilliance and insight into humanity. As the epicenter of the pandemic in the United States, our region has been under masking requirements for two years, while many folks are still required to mask daily for work. Figure Ground Gallery would like to welcome folks in to celebrate the end of the mask mandate and to retrain ourselves to connect to one another through facial expression.
