“Mommy” - An exhibit by Melissa Monroe

Textile pieces, paintings, drawings from the past year made by a mother, for mothers, for anyone who has had a mother. Melissa is a well know artist and instructor in Portland, and her works are in a new exhibit at Lynn Hanson Gallery from Dec 1, 2022 through Jan 28, 2023. Her bright 2D and 3D pieces fill the gallery with color, wit, and expressive images.

Her Art explores the relationship between ‘Mommy’ as a full time artist and a full time mother. A show made in-between making taking the kids to school and making dinner. Looking into her studio from the kitchen doorway, her expression is as important as any others.  Thoughts interrupted, guilty work, always a mother.   Mommy Mommy Mommy.

Located in the heart of Pioneer Square, Lynn Hanson Gallery is a contemporary art gallery – a welcoming space full of approachable art. Open First Thursdays from 5 to 8:30 pm, and Friday-Saturdays from 11 am to 4 pm.
