Artist Reception with Lauren Iida | Citizen’s Indefinite Leave

Meet Lauren Iida and experience her new exhibition "Citizen's Indefinite Leave". ArtXchange Gallery presents Citizen’s Indefinite Leave, a new series of paper cutaway artworks by Lauren Iida. The exhibition showcases work produced during Iida’s time as Artist-in-Residence with Densho, an organization dedicated to preserving the histories of Japanese Americans who were incarcerated during World War II. With access to Densho’s vast digital archives, Iida worked with historical photographs and her own family’s history, blending them with surreal painted backgrounds, symbols and dreamlike characters to create intricate artworks that explore questions of citizenship, belonging and home.
