2019 Fallen Firefighter Memorial

Hours

F / 9:30-10:30am

Members of the public are invited to join the Seattle Fire Department in honoring all Seattle firefighters who have died in the line of duty. The annual Seattle Fallen Firefighter Memorial will take place on Oct. 4 from 9:30 – 10 a.m. in Occidental Square (117 S. Washington St.).

Rich in firefighter tradition, the ceremony will begin and end with a presentation of colors by the Walter Kilgore Memorial Honor Guard. The Seattle Firefighters Pipes and Drums band will play several musical selections and the audience will hear from Mayor Jenny Durkan, Fire Chief Harold Scoggins and Local 27 President Kenny Stuart.

This year, Seattle Firefighter Marvin Larry will be added to the memorial. Firefighter Larry passed away in March 2018 from a duty-related condition. He is among the 250 firefighters nationally being memorialized for line of duty deaths in 2018. The local ceremony coincides with the 38th Annual National Fallen Firefighter Memorial weekend held at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland.
