April is Jazz Appreciation Month (JAM), and The Knife Room is quadrupling down on live jazz to celebrate. That's right, you can catch live jazz music every Thursday evening in April, where we've hired four incredible bands to bring you a variety of genres and themes that rejoice in jazz rhythm revelries. D’Vonne Lewis is a self-taught musician/drummer/poet with a background in gospel, funk, and rhythm and blues. D’Vonne graduated from Seattle’s Roosevelt High School in 2002, where he received numerous high school jazz band awards, including the Jazz at Lincoln Center Outstanding Drum Soloist winner at the Essentially Ellington Jazz Festival for the years of 2000, 2001, and 2002. Lewis brings together some of the Northwest's best instrumentalists. The band offers up hard-driving grooves and spectacular musicianship shaped and propelled by a stellar band: the muscular saxophone of Cliff Colón, deep groove and virtuosic bass solos from Farko Dosumov and the ever versatile, instrumental voice of Jacques Willis on vibraphone.
