Please visit the A Gallery for the opening reception of " A Portable Homeland" by Karey Kessler during Pioneer Square Seattle's First Thursday Art Walk.
In this installation, A Portable Homeland, Karey uses the imagery of a map, unscrolled on a table, to explore her inscape, or internal landscape of time, place and spirituality. This inner-space is also deeply affected by the landscape around her — the grey-green of the pines and the blue-grey of the clouds. This scroll depicts a place that is very personal and intimate, yet, also, a place of collective experience — interconnected and cosmic.
Karey Kessler is a Seattle, WA based artist. She received her B.A. in Fine Arts from the University of Pennsylvania, and her M.F.A. from the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.
