Opening Reception: Design IN the Square

Join us at the Opening Reception for Design IN the Square, a spatial prototyping tool/kit-of-parts intended to explore new ways of empowering a user within the architectural design process. Come by to see details of the creative process and kit-of-parts in action before SDF's Block Party weekend. As a response to the 2017 Seattle Design Festival Theme: POWER, Design IN the Square draws inspiration from 2016’s Map the Square project in which the public took to the neighborhood to tag areas in Pioneer Square they felt deserved a public intervention. Design IN the Square puts the power into the hands of the user to think spatially without the training of an architect, and to build without the professional tools of a contractor, injecting more public autonomy into the process of architectural civic design.
