Hannah works on a 4-harness floor loom, focusing on meticulous color studies. These pieces are built from delicate threads, with only the dyed warp visible as a way to emphasize the unpredictable quality of the dye. By removing representational imagery from the work Hannah is able to concentrate on the tactile and atmospheric quality of the materials: the sheen, gauge, dye, texture of the fiber.
Each piece is built thread by thread, the final outcome hidden until the last pick of the weft has been laid. There will be light refreshments and the chance to chat with the artist.
