For the month of October, Velouria is pleased to show work by Pacific Northwest-based artists: Hannah O’Gorman, Liz Toohey-Wiese, and Saltstone Ceramics. Each artist approaches their chosen medium with an obvious level of care, from O’Gorman’s skillful color selection, Saltstone’s graceful vessels and Toohey-Wiese's gentle watercolors.
Hannah O’Gorman lives and works in Seattle, where she received her MFA in painting and drawing from the University of Washington in 2012. Her paintings are gestural and often suggestive, in these new works O’Gorman revisits the body using her own as a model.
Liz Toohey-Wiese is based out of Vancouver, BC where she works in a number of mediums from large scale acrylic paintings to small hand-woven tapestries. For October, Velouria will be showing a number of her prints based on water colors. These pieces capture small moments from the artists life, including gardens, landscapes and weavings and often act as inspiration for larger works.
Sarah Steininger is the woman behind Saltstone Ceramics, a line of beautifully crafted functional vessels. Each piece is made by hand at the artists studio in Seattle, because of this every piece is slightly different, each with its own personality.
